# Privacy

> How Semilattice handles personal data, consent, and compliance.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Does Semilattice process personal data?">
    No personally identifiable information (PII) is required or stored. Custom user models are built from aggregate data — response distributions, not individual records. Predictions output group-level distributions, never individual responses. When uploading seed data, ensure you have appropriate consent for its use.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Are simulated respondents real people?">
    No. Predictions are generated by AI models, not by surveying real individuals. No real person is contacted, observed, or identified during a prediction. The models are grounded in real research data but the prediction process is entirely computational.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What data do you collect about me as a user?">
    Account information (email, organisation), usage metrics, and analytics via PostHog (EU instance). We don't sell user data or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How is the content I upload for models different from the usage data you collect?">
    **Customer Model Data** is the content you provide to build audience models — seed data, survey responses, files you upload for that purpose. It is used only to build and operate your models and to generate your predictions. It is never used to train other customers' models, never made available to other customers, and never used to train foundation models. It is governed by our [Terms of Service](https://semilattice.ai/terms). Customer Model Data should not contain personal data; if any personal data is erroneously included, our Data Processing Agreement applies to that personal data.

    **Service Usage Data** is how you use our apps — login events, feature usage, performance metrics, error reports, product analytics. We use it to operate, secure, improve and develop the service. It is governed by our [Privacy Policy](https://semilattice.ai/privacy).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is Semilattice GDPR compliant?">
    We are a UK-based company processing data in the EU. We follow GDPR principles: data minimisation, purpose limitation, and the right to deletion. Our infrastructure is EU-hosted. For a formal data processing agreement, contact us.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can predictions be traced back to real individuals?">
    No. There is no mechanism to reverse-engineer an individual's responses from a prediction output. No PII enters the system, and predictions are aggregate distributions, not individual responses.
